charlamar whippets - "Beautiful Movement"
Charlamar is a small home-based kennel in Louisville, Kentucky. The kennel name dates back to the early 60's when Charlotte and John Lee bred top winning wirehaired Dachshunds. When John died an untimely death in 1976, Charlotte placed most of the dogs with show homes and pursued the task of raising their three children and running the family business as a single mother.

In the early 90's two rescued Greyhounds came to live with Charlotte who was then living and working in Southern California. These lovely creatures sparked a love for sighthounds that led her to choose Whippets when retirement drew near and the time was once again available to show dogs.

In October of 2008,  a beautiful young whippet bred in Finland by Woodbrook and owned by Tony Groenendijk of Amsterdam, Netherlands came to stay at Charlamar during his USA show career. "James" aka Am. Ch.
Woodbrooks Ask Me How I Feel  had a notable show career while living at Charlamar and went home to Tony a US champion in June of 2009 after winning BOB from the classes over specials and going on to Group 2 on the same day. He is sadly missed at Charlamar!
